Planning on camping in Bristol for the NASCAR races this year? Here are some things you should know.

Make your reservations early, especially if you intend to camp with full hook-ups. Popular campgrounds are often reserved months in advance.

Campgrounds vary widely. Some are well equipped, others are simply grassy fields over hilly terrain with Porta Potties. Some allow the use of alcohol, some do not. Security also varies widely between campgrounds. Do not assume!

Bristol is RV friendly, but 10,000 RVs at one time are a lot to handle. Be sure to check your equipment, before you arrive, and have major repairs completed before you leave home. Service technicians, us included, are extremely busy during race week and do not have the time to perform extensive repairs or general maintenance.

If you can not find a campground to your liking, camping on someone's lawn is a popular alternative. Many home owners rent space in their yards for camping. If you want to camp, but do not own an RV, local dealers rent RVs for the race. Again be sure to plan ahead.

During race week, expect to pay more for a site than you would on an ordinary weekend. Bristol is NASCAR's most popular track and almost everything is in short supply.

If you need parts for your RV, it may not be necessary to drive to one of the local dealerships. We stock a large warehouse within ten minutes of the track and circulate between campgrounds continuously during the week. We carry over $5,000 worth of parts on our truck and, provided we have it in stock, we can drop it at your site. Unlike some repair services, by the way, we do not raise our rates for parts or labor during race weeks.

Here are links to some of our favorite campgrounds. We service campers in these campgrounds first.

Beaver Creek Campground owned by our good friend and local RV dealer Terry McCroskey. Beaver Creek is about .8 of a mile from the track and got its name from the stream running next to it. Terry also has campers to rent for the race.

Earhart Campground not only do we serve his campground, we do the do the work on Charlie Earhart's motor home. Two large campgrounds, one next to the track and one directly across the street from the track.

Farmer Bob's Campground Bob is just a good guy and still has a working farm when the race is not in town. You can walk or catch the shuttle from Bob's.

Hilltop Campground Again Mickey Baker is a friend and I have been doing the work on his campers for several years. A short walk to the track. Mickey has a few trailers to rent, along with space to camp.

Pole Position Up on the drag strip end off Hwy 394. Easy access, great folks. If you can't find us, they'll track us down for you and even tell us what you need. You can stroll down to the track or catch the shuttle.

Race Day Center One of the newest full hook up camping facilities directly across the street from the front entrance to the track and directly behind the vendors.
